“Actors, we want to see you.
We’re excited to see you and we’re rooting for you. So many times, I see actors walk into the room already feeling defeated, like the odds are stacked against them. But it’s important to remember: you’re there for a reason. Your time, your talent, and your presence is wanted in that space.
Trust that casting has a bigger imagination.
When you come into a room that I’m in, you’re not just being seen for the role you’re auditioning for — you’re being seen as an artist. The work you bring into the room can spark something much bigger. Yes, I’m focused on the work at hand, but the moment you start performing — whether you’re singing, reading, or dancing — my mind begins to race. I’m imagining other roles, other projects, other possibilities.
That’s the kind of impact a strong performance can have — and to me, that is very exciting.
Two things that stand out the most: consistency and kindness.
When someone comes in consistently prepared, does great work, and leads with kindness, they become an artist that we can trust. That kind of trust between a performer and a casting team is powerful — because it means we can bring you in knowing one of two things will happen: 1) You’ll perform at the level we know you can and absolutely shine, or 2) You’ll surprise us — in the best way — and bring a fresh perspective that inspires and energizes something new behind the table.
Every artist is different, but it’s this consistency that builds the foundation for a genuine, mutual trust throughout one’s career. “
